Many people all over the world love Cobra Kai and the Karate Kid movies. The Snake Fist Karate Federation is the real Cobra Kai. But what about Snake Fist Karate as a style? What do we learn in the SFKF, and how does Snake Fist Karate compare with other styles?
I know what you're thinking- I'm just some idiot who watched Cobra Kai too many times, then created the SFKF out of thin air, to try and capitalise off the success of the TV show- am I right? Well, not quite. I have been active in Snake Fist Karate for years, and was given 8th Dan for my work on the style, by the Grand Master. I am not the Grand Master of Snake Fist Karate, but I am the Grand Master of the Snake Fist Karate Federation.
It wasn't until recently that I realised that technically, Snake Fist Karate is the nearest you will get to the Cobra Kai- it's been around for decades, and comes from California. I love all the Karate Kid films and Cobra Kai, but I couldn't ignore the truth behind Snake Fist and it being so close to Cobra Kai, yet real; a pleasant coincidence.
I am Grand Master Thomas Daw, I created the SFKF in 2020. Snake Fist Karate is a simple style but is as effective as any martial art around. There are four belt levels, yellow, blue, green and 1st Dan black belt. Higher levels are in manual form.
I have been active in martial arts for the best part of the last 25 years, maybe a little more. I have done Taekwondo, different styles of Kung Fu, Tai Chi styles and more obscure systems as well. I would recommend Snake Fist Karate to anyone, and would say it is a perfect introductory martial art for anybody.
My first black belt was in Taekwondo way back in 1999, and even back then, I had done Kung Fu, weapons and other things also. Taekwondo is the go-to style for kicking techniques, without question. I can still kick better than most men can punch. But with all the styles I ever did, my hands were never anywhere near as good as my feet: nowhere near as strong, and I was disappointed. The most popular Kung Fu in the UK wasn't good enough for me personally- nothing hit the spot. Snake Fist Karate changed the game.
Because of Snake Fist Karate, I now out-punch most people alive. I have even had Guinness World Records say they cannot verify my record- they haven't anyone who can do so. If you want to kick, I recommend Taekwondo. You want grappling? Maybe try Jujitsu. But if you want to punch, and punch well- Snake Fist karate is the style for you. I have memorised every punch and hand strike in Snake Fist Karate, and could probably spend a couple hours teaching just the first punch and its applications!
To be honest, back in 2008 when I started Snake Fist, I had no idea what to expect, I just signed up for it. There is a bit of bravery involved in just jumping into new martial arts. In all honesty, Snake Fist Karate is not that physically demanding, but perfect for great self-defense. Take it from me, Snake Fist Karate is as strong as any style in existence. People sometimes ask me, what is the strongest martial art? There is no single martial art that is the strongest- it's down to the effort you make as an individual, when training in any style.
I know that some people worry about gymnastic moves and flips and things before they do martial arts. Snake Fist involves no gymnastics or seriously demanding moves, so there's no need to worry. You don't have to be super-flexible to do Snake Fist Karate. Everyone is welcome to join us in the SFKF.
I created the Snake Fist Karate Federation to get the most out of Snake Fist Karate. For those who want to become the top students of Snake Fist Karate, in the world, the SFKF cannot be beaten; there is no equal on this planet! The SFKF has its own official video program, whereby students can learn extra moves for each belt level. The video program is here. I also have written the Snake Fist Karate Federation Guide Book, which can take you from beginner to Master in all that Snake Fist and the SFKF have to offer. Please note that the guide book doesn't teach individual moves, and won't make sense if you're not already a member of the SFKF. The SFKF guide book is available here.
The SFKF also has its own seminar collection. I designed, filmed and produced three seminar courses, with each offering extra techniques, Kata and more, for anyone who likes Snake Fist Karate. The applications and Kata in the second seminar course is almost a separate martial art! Click here for the SFKF seminar collection.
From what I have written so far, you can see that the SFKF has much more to offer than just the belt grade levels to learn. In the SFKF, people can teach and open Dojos if they wish, or just join as members, with zero pressure to train in any physical martial arts. Some people just want to join and be members, and we say the more the merrier in the SFKF!
Members of the SFKF get discounts on all products, free books, martial arts movies to view online and more! And for anyone reading who is keen to grab a bargain today, click here to access our special offers for new students! It's all good in the SFKF!
In lots of martial arts clubs online, people buy a course, and then they're forgotten. In the SFKF, there's no attitude, no pressure, no bullying and no competition. Yet some students can fight in tournaments and represent the SFKF, if they wish. Nobody is going to suddenly change personality on you when you get to blue belt, like in many Dojos. There's never any danger of the Dojo shutting down, and no training anymore- we are global. And for anyone wishing to join us, I will personally welcome you as our newest member. I look forward to having you join us.
Have a great day.
Regards,
Grand Master Daw.
President of the SFKF.
